On February 13, Atlantic City casino workers traveled to Trenton to urge lawmakers to pass legislation to end smoking inside casinos.

On Feb. 5, 2022, the Navajo Nation implemented The Air is Life Act—Niłch’í éí bee iiná—making a lasting impact on Navajo lives. The decision to permanently go smokefree in the four Tribal casinos managed by the Navajo Nation as well as in other public spaces is a major milestone.

ANRF Resource for Tribal Partners: The Reclaim Sacred Tobacco group will provide tools that reshape health inequities, eliminate commercial tobacco use, and decolonize tobacco entirely from Tribal communities. This working group is an example of ANR Foundation’s work supporting Tribal health partners in their policy efforts. The next Reclaim Sacred Tobacco call will take place on Friday, February 24 at 11:00am – 12:00pm CST.

ANR honors Mr. Lewis McTush who lifted his voice in relentless pursuit of smokefree air for all people. Because of Mr. McTush's work in Atlanta, ANR was able to highlight the stories of musicians and those who were most impacted by secondhand smoke, helping to ensure a smokefree Atlanta. February 25, 2023, marks the 33rd anniversary of smokefree air travel. We honor the flight attendants, the law makers, the partners, the members, and donors who made it all possible. Opponents at the time claimed no one would fly if they could not smoke. Can you imagine flying on a plane full of smoke?
