Detroit Airport Authority Cancels Cigar Bar Proposal After Almost 2 Years of Public Outcry

Indoor Smoking Will Return to San Francisco

On July 14, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors enacted an ordinance on a 7-4 vote to permit indoor cannabis hospitality venues in the city, allowing cannabis retail spaces to transform into cafes and entertainment lounges where indoor smoking and vaping are completely legalized. 

Casino Workers Urge PA Legislators to Learn From Smokefree Casinos’ Example By Eliminating Secondhand Smoke From All Properties

Happy Valley Casino in State College, PA, is the third smokefree casino in Pennsylvania. This is a hospitality workplace for hundreds of people who won’t have to get sick breathing on the job. Revenue data shows that this is performing well, but the PA legislature continues to delay efforts to close gaps in smokefree protections.

ANR Director of Advocacy, Bronson Frick, was recently quoted in a Bloomberg article, Why Airports Can’t Quit Smoking Lounges, about indoor smoking rooms in Airports and how they are part of the tobacco industry’s playbook to keep nicotine and smoking normalized in the public sphere. Smoking rooms inside of airports are still allowed in more than 100 countries, including the United States, which only has three.
