ADVOCATES PARADE IN NEW JERSEY

Especially fitting given that all workplaces in Ireland are non-smoking indoors, including casinos and pubs, UAW and CEASE had a float in the Atlantic City St. Patrick's Day Parade to keep the issue visible. UAW, which represents table games dealers exposed to secondhand smoke, has challenged lawmakers and groups opposed to smokefree casinos, including the Southern New Jersey Chamber and Local 54, to public debates on the issue.

MARIJUANA LINKED TO HEART ATTACKS

This new study is about the link of cannabis to heart attack and stroke, similar to tobacco use. While this study doesn’t address marijuana secondhand smoke directly, it could be that data on marijuana secondhand smoke will come too, with further study.

SMOKEFREE MARCH MADNESS

March Madness tips off with conference championships, including March 13-17, 2024, when downtown Nashville hosts the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament at Bridgestone Arena. The Arena is smokefree, and so are Nashville bars and music venues! Both March Madness Final Four and Championship host cities are also smokefree—Glendale, AZ, for the men’s tournament and Cleveland, OH, for the women’s tournament.
